BLUSH

BLUSH is an interdisciplinary dance collective from various backgrounds (Psychology, Sculpture, Philosophy, Arts) and also diverse in our approach to movement (Contemporary Dance, Butoh, Clowning, and Contact Improvisation).

Our researching focuses on phenomena of presence, instinct, chaos and tradition and seeks to cross pollinate theatre, dance, performance, clowning, and everyday life. We have been working on the appearance of diverse characters, exploring them from these various prisms, as well as collective creation of dance pieces, choreographic elements and physical material & dance qualities. Apart from the performative aspect, we offer workshops exploring tools and proposals and holding the space for improvisation research.

THE WORLD OUTSIDE

Five performers embark on an exploratory journey of light, movement and memory. In the collective solitude of dreams they encounter each others resonance. Through invisible space and tender light an ominous world is created. An eternal return of their own condition flickers and fights in
The World Outside.

THE GAME CHANGER

Set in the Glass Works factory in MONOPOL Berlin complex, a durational game unfolds between six dance artists in collaboration with a musician improvising a musical score and soundscape. A four hour journey into a labyrinth of sets, objects, costume and rules. At any time a player can declare the game to change... power structures grow and melt away, families form and fall, the space becomes robust and fragile like glass. The research is set upon the experiences of lockdown during the first wave of corona pandemic. A global body has a virus and leagues of humanity are locked up in their homes. How to touch, bond, surrender? How to laugh, derange, collect? How to make sense? How to make change?

HOLZLUST

Holzlust is the result of the Sommernachtstrum (2020), a residency of artists, performers and musicians co-creating and researching together in Northeast Germany. Through somatic research into the oneiric qualities of the woodlands an intervention was held at midnight. A wondering choir led into the deepest layer of the woods, a drum calls into the silence and five bodies move with the deep resonance of the space. The carnal, the earthly and the mortal dance in the dwelling place of spirit.

THE EXTRACTION OF
THE STONE OF MADNESS

The Extraction of the Stone of Madness (1494) by Hieronymus Bosch speaks to the gullibility of patients and the abstract hope of sanity. In a time of digital addiction, narcissism and plague (2020) we encounter lilting questions of sanity. Here we embark on a rich encounter with a cast of intrepid personas, creatures and machines inspired by the everyday lives of five city dwelling performers. Working from the absurdity of these meetings we glimpse into a stage of earthly delights.
